Since premiering at the Los Angeles Pan African Film Festival in 2017, Guangzhou Dream Factory has screened at festivals, museums, universities, and academic conferences around the world. We feel honored that we were able to screen the film multiple times in Africa and in China (and Hong Kong), where audiences were particularly enthusiastic. Traveling over three years with the film, and participating in dozens of panels and discussions, was an immensely rewarding experience. Viewers in multiple countries told us how they recognized their own life experiences in the stories they saw in the Guangzhou Dream Factory. Whether people immigrate to the United States, Europe, Asia, or across the African continent, the stories of struggling, striving and belonging are universal.
When the Covid epidemic spread, our in-person screenings stopped. We continued, however, to screen the film virtually in the U.S., Europe and China.
